Making your own clothing is not the endall answer to sustainability. Making your own clothing is a luxury that we celebrate. It's that rare kind of luxury, that doesn't have you craving the bigger, the better and the faster, but that helps you unwind, slow down and be in the moment. Knitting reminds us to take life one stitch at a time, and that everything grand and worthwile is the sum of many small acts of love and labour. Great things can happen, if you take the first stitch!
Thinking of the people we're knitting for while actually knitting is one of the things we love most about our craft. But we also need to think about all the people, animals and environments that are affected by our love of wool; sustainable production and animal welfare are paramount to us. All our suppliers are hand picked in order to guarantee mulesing free wool and environmentally sustainable handling and dying. In the future, we hope to expand our range of certified organic yarns and we are constantly on the lookout for new, sustainable yarn producers.
When Topsy first opened her knitting café in Vienna, Paula learned how to knit out of sheer daughterly solidarity. But the magic of making things quickly took hold and since then, we've hat the great fortune of sharing a passion. Pouring over yarn colors, exchanging ideas for new projects and knitting together over coffee, at family gatherings or in front of the TV has brought us closer together and has had an incredible impact on us as individuals: Knitting helps unwind and relax, gives a wonderful sense of accomplishment and an outlet for untapped creativity. And when the going gets rough, we grab our needles to keep the world from spinning. For all of these reasons, we are so happy to share our passion with the world - one stitch at a time!
